Jack and Jack: ‘A Good Friend Is Nice’ Album Review

Jack and Jack’s debut album ‘A good friend is nice’ was finally released today after a long wait. The pop duo were to originally release the album on the 11th of January but decided to push the date because they wanted to make the album perfect for their fans.

Athough they had hits with their EP’s ‘Calibraska’, ‘Gone’, and their hit single with Jonas blue which is included on the track list, the album feels more mature and authentic than the others and moves away from typical pop songs which just shows how much work they put into creating the album.

As the album release date was pushed back, the pop duo decided to give their fans an idea of what’s to come on their upcoming album by dropping two tracks ‘tension’ and ‘barcelona’ last week. Lyrically ‘tension’ is an emotional song but the beat offers a slightly more chilled side to the song allowing their audience to feel nostalgic but content at the same time. The song shows real vulnerability from the pop duo as they sing and rap about the tension between them and an ex. ‘Barcelona’ offers a similar tone in beat and lyrics but the chorus makes this a feel good song. Not to mention, the fun visuals the boys paired with their songs.

There are so many great songs on this album, ‘lotta love’, ‘used to you now’ and ‘day dreaming’ are probably my favourites right now. I think the tone of these songs just makes them feel mature but still pop worthy. They have crafted an album which is relatable, nostalgic but fun to listen to.

I think they have done a great job with this album and I can’t wait to see them at their ‘Good Friends Are Nice’ tour in March.

Love, b x
